Chelsea and Man Utd have reportedly joined the race for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.

The report revealed that on the transfer deadline day,  Newcastle United were the main one that could have signed Ekitike; however, the deal did not materialise during the closing hours of the January window.

This has now given a wide array of clubs, including Chelsea, the opportunity to sign Ekitike, who has scored nine goals and created two assists from his 19 Ligue appearances this season.

According to 90 min, Chelsea and United were in attendance to watch the 19-year-old impress against Bordeaux at the weekend.

The report claimed that more than 12 clubs made the trip to France for that game, with Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain also represented in the stands.

While Ekitike still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, Reims will naturally be tempted to cash in on the player during the summer transfer window.

We will have to wait till the summer to see if Chelsea will make submit a bid for the young striker.
