Chelsea have given a latest update on Mason Mount, who suffered an ankle injury during their victory in the Club World Cup campaign.

The injury made Mount absent during the Blues 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday in the English Premier League.

With the look of things, the England international will also be unavailable on Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 first leg with Lille, and there had been earlier suggestions that the 23-year-old could be missing in action when Chelsea take on Liverpool in the Carabao League final at Wembley next weekend.

However, in a latest post via social media, Chelsea gave a reassuring update with Mount pictured smiling on the treatment table with one of the Blues’ medical staff also in good spirits.

The Blues manager Thomas Tuchel had said earlier that they are working out ways for Mount to be available for next weekend match vs the Reds.

So far this season, Mount has been impressive for Chelsea, scoring seven goals and creating eight assists in 34 appearances.

The English star also has one goal in five matches in the Carabao League this season.
