Chelsea eye Brentford striker, could make move for him next transfer window

Chelsea have been linked with moves for Ivan Toney, who is believed to be similar in style to Blues legend Didier Drogba, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Toney, who is signed by Brentford has been in impressive form this season, scoring 10 goals in 14 Premier League outings, which includes a brace against Manchester City just before the start of the World Cup.

With Chelsea wanting to sign a new forward next season, Toney is one of their many targets and they could make a move for him next summer.

Amid the reports linking Toney to Chelsea, O’Rourke has compared him to club legend Drogba.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “He’s similar in style to Drogba, whether he’s as good a player as Didier Drogba, that’s still open for debate.

“Drogba is a Chelsea legend, played at the highest level throughout his career as well, so Ivan Toney’s still got a lot to do to be named amongst those like Didier Drogba. We know what Ivan Toney brings to the table. He’s a good frontman, can lead the line, can score goals and he’s very powerful in the air.”
