Chelsea have extended their contract with their midfielder and Wales international Billy Gilmour for two more years.

The report revealed that Gilmour will now remain at Chelsea until 2024.

The 21-year-old midfielder joined the Blues from Rangers in the summer of 2017 and went on to rise through their youth ranks to make his debut for the club in August 2019.

Gilmour scored eight goals and created 10 assists in 40 appearances for the Blues’ Under-23 squad before becoming a member of Thomas Tuchel’s first team.

With Saul Niguez out of Stamford Bridge, Gilmour could get more game time at Chelsea but would still have the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to compete against.

Gilmour was out on loan to Norwich City for the 2021-22 season, where he made a total of 28 appearances for the Canaries in all competitions, creating two assists in that time.

With Chelsea yet to complete a deal for any summer signing, there seems to be hope for Gilmour that he would get opportunities to play for the Blues next season.
