Premier League side Chelsea are not ready to let go of Marcos Alonso despite Spanish giant Barcelona.

Barcelona are Keen on strengthening their defence this summer and has identified Alonso as a perfect player for their style of play.

The former Bolton Wanderers defender lost his place in the Chelsea team to Ben Chilwell last season, but Barcelona believes he still can perform at the highest level.

Despite having limited game time under Thomas Tuchel, the German still wants Alonso in his squad next season, according to Mundo Deportivo.

According to reports, Tuchel sees Alonso as a valuable, versatile player, that can be fielded at wing-back or as a centre-half.

If Alonso ends up staying at Chelsea, the blues might be forced to let go of Emerson who is currently linked with some clubs in Seria A.

Barcelona are not the only club trying to sign Alonso as Inter Milan are also monitoring his situation with the blues.

Alonso has two years left on his Chelsea contract and interested clubs may struggle to match his wage demands and Chelsea’s asking price.
