Chelsea defender slammed for not being good enough

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has lashed out at Chelsea’s summer signing Marc Cucurella, as he stated that the Spanish player is not good enough.

Leboeuf said he doesn’t understand why the Blues spent over £60 million to sign the player from Brighton in the summer.

He added the Spaniard should be nowhere near Chelsea’s starting eleven

Recall that Cucurella moved to Stamford Bridge from Brighton in the summer in a deal that could reach £62million.

He has, however, struggled to impress considering the price Chelsea paid for him.

Cucurella has constantly featured in the Blues lineup due to Ben Chilwell and Reece James’ absence as they are both on injury.

Leboeuf told ESPN, “Reece James and Chilwell are going to go back into fitness asap because we need them, because we don’t want to see Cucurella anymore.

“The player is not good enough for Chelsea. It’s as simple as that.

“It’s crazy that they signed him for £60m or £70m, but we can see that he does not belong to that level.”
