Chelsea could make a move for this AC Milan star

According to recent reports, Italian club, AC Milan have been locked in talks with Rafael Leão over a contract extension, which is yet to result in a breakthrough.

The report revealed that the 23-year-old Portugal star doesn’t want an extension beyond 2024, which is when his current deal expires.

While AC Milan have tried to make the offer look good as they remain in negotiations with the budding superstar, the recent development is a call for other clubs who may be interested in Leao including Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City, among others to make a move.

During the last summer, Chelsea had made an informal approach to sign him but were immediately knocked back despite their supposed willingness to pay upwards of €100m.

Leão has a €150m release clause, which any club who wish to sign him must be ready to pay but that could change depending on if Milan believe they can still convince him to sign a new long-term contract.
