Chelsea are close to landing their first signing this summer in the person of Man City star Raheem Sterling.

The Blues at keen on adding Sterling to their squad and are close to signing a deal with him.

According to the reports, including that from Ben Jacobs and Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s move for Sterling could be wrapped up today, to the tune of around £45-55m.

This would include packages like bonuses and add-ons, which would put the deal on par with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, who was also signed from Man City

The two players who were once considered indispensable have been allowed to leave City this summer following the arrival of new players.

Jacob wrote via his Twitter handle:

“Chelsea will complete the signing of Raheem Sterling today. A verbal agreement has been in place since last week for a £45 million deal with add-ons finalised this week. Deal could rise close to £55 million. Clubs always confident of a sale since never too far apart in valuation.”

Chelsea would benefit from Sterling’s experience, having seen some of their senior players leave this summer.
