Chelsea considering new manager as Pochettino’s replacement
Chelsea are reportedly planning to replace their manager Mauricio Pochettino ahead of next season.
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe and Barcelona’s manager Xavi are said to be part of names included on a shortlist of possible candidates to replace Pochettino.
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge last summer, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss has experienced a inconsistent performance this campaign.
Pochettino was close to lifting a silverware in his first season with the Blues when he led them to the EFL Cup final where they suffered a defeat Liverpool.
As of now, Chelsea still have a chance to finish the season with a trophy, having progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals for the fourth time in five seasons.
While the Blues have been impressive in the cup competitions, they have struggled to find consistency in the Premier League.
Currently they are seated in the 9th spot on the league table and could dropped further if they suffer a defeat to Everton tonight.
Aside from Howe and Xavi, other names on Chelsea’s list includes Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot.
