Chelsea considering former manager to take over from Lampard permanently

Chelsea led by American billionaire Todd Boehly are considering bringing back Carlo Ancelotti to the club as their permanent manager after Frank Lampard’s interim term completes at the end of the season.

Recall that the Blues sacked Potter last Sunday and brought in former manager Lampard as a caretaker manager until the end of the season.

However, they are now considering Ancelotti, who is currently Real Madrid’s manager to the list of potential candidates to replace Potter permanently next season.

Ancelotti impressed at Real Madrid despite his poor spell at Everton and he is likely to lead the Los Blancos to another UCL victory this season.

Despite his achievement, the 63-year-old has been linked with a transfer from Real Madrid this summer.

A report via ESPN revealed Ancelotti ticks many of the boxes Boehly and Chelsea are looking for in a new manager.

The Italian is said to be ready to work alongside a technical director, which suits the model in place at Chelsea.

Ancelotti was at Chelsea between 2009 and 2011 and won a Premier League and FA Cup double during his stay at the club.
