Chelsea confirm the departure of this goalkeeper

Ahead of the summer transfer window, Chelsea have confirmed the departure of one of their players.

The Blues confirmed Willy Caballero will be leaving in the summer as his contract with them ends this month.

Chelsea made this known in a statement released on Friday as they bid goodbye to their now former goalkeeper.

Caballero who joined Chelsea from Man City in 2017 has spent 4 years at Stamford Bridge.

He made 38 appearances for the Blues including 11 in the Premier League and the FA Cup final last season.

The statement released by Chelsea read in part,” Willy Caballero will depart Stamford Bridge after four years with Chelsea when his contract expires at the end of this month.

” He helped us to win the FA Cup and Europa League before having his contract extended for the 2020/21 season, meaning he saved the best for last as he was among our substitutes when we defeated Manchester City in Porto to lift the Champions League trophy.”

It is yet to be known if Chelsea plans to bring in a new goalie to serve as a replacement when the summer transfer window commences.

The Blues number one goalkeeper remains Senegal international, Edouard Mendy.
