Barcelona, Chelsea and some other clubs in the Premier League have reportedly begun a race to sign the 2022 World Cup best midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat.

French president, Emmanuel Macron had named Amrabat the best midfielder of the tournament during his visit to Morocco’s dressing room after their defeat to France in the semi-finals.

The report revealed that aside from Chelsea, other EPL clubs like Liverpool, West Ham United and Newcastle United are making moves to get Moroccan to join them.

He was linked with moves to Tottenham last summer transfer window but the deal never happened.

Calciomercato reports that Barcelona want to sign the Moroccan as a replacement for ageing Sergio Busquets,

The report added, however, that Fiorentina are keen on extending Amrabat’s contract as soon as he returns to Florence after he participated in the World Cup.

The Moroccan joined the Italian club in January 2020 and has now made 78 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring one goal.
