Bournemouth Stand Firm as Arsenal’s Midfield Pursuit Hits Early Setback
Arsenal have suffered an early setback in their search for a new midfielder after Bournemouth made it clear they have no intention of selling Alex Scott during the summer transfer window.
The Premier League champions have identified the highly rated 22-year-old as one of several midfield targets as they look to strengthen the heart of their squad ahead of the new season. However, Bournemouth have quickly dismissed Arsenal’s initial approach, insisting Scott remains a key part of their long-term plans.
The Cherries are determined to keep hold of the former Bristol City star and are already working towards extending his current contract, which still has two years remaining. Scott enjoyed an impressive campaign on the south coast and continues to attract attention from several leading Premier League clubs.
Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all believed to be monitoring the England midfielder’s situation, highlighting the growing competition for one of English football’s brightest young talents.
Scott’s reputation has continued to rise after earning his first senior England call-up last year before being included in Thomas Tuchel’s extended pre-World Cup training squad. Although he did not feature in a match, the recognition underlined his rapid development.
Arsenal remain active in the transfer market and are exploring alternative midfield options. Newcastle United duo Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali are also under consideration, with Guimaraes viewed as the more attainable target at present. Tonali’s valuation is understood to be a significant obstacle, while Tottenham are reportedly increasing their efforts and growing in confidence over a potential deal for the Italy international.
