Benfica slam Chelsea over move for player

Benfica manager Roger Schmidt has fired at Chelsea in a recent statement as he accused them of being disrespectful in their move to sign Enzo Fernandez.

According to Schmidt, the Premier League side have made the Argentine ‘crazy’ in attempts to force a move away from the club.

While Benfica does not want Fernandez to leave the club for less than his £106 million release clause, the Blues have, however, attempted to negotiate a deal and have made an offer of £112 million over three yearly instalments.

Chelsea submitted £ 79 million along with winger Hakim Ziyech and two other players on loan.

The EPL side are accused of ‘trying to pretend’ they can pay the release clause.

Benfica’s manager stated that they do not want the World Cup winner to leave but expected the Blues to pay the clause instead of negotiating again.

In the manager’s words, if Fernandez wants to leave and Chelsea pays the clause in his contract, Benfica will not stop him from leaving.

“There is a club who want our player. They know we don’t want to sell the player,” he told the press on Thursday
