Barcelona’s target say he is still enjoying life at Chelsea
Chelsea captain and Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta in a recent statement told Cadenaser that he is still enjoying life at Stamford Bridge.
Azpilicueta was very close to leaving the club after a decade in West London last summer with Spanish club Barcelona keened on signing him.
While the likes of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger moved to Spain where they joined Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively, Azpilicueta remained at Chelsea where he signed a new deal.
With the look of things, the Blues captain who is now 33 could end his career at the club.
He said: “The situation was unique because of what we lived at Chelsea. It had a 30-game clause, we had sanctions, we didn’t know who was going to own it and by not playing those games I was a free agent. I have always had a commitment to Chelsea and I thought that the best thing was to continue.
“I am very happy to continue. The new owners showed me that they wanted me to stay. Chelsea is my home. What I cannot do is leave in the ways that I did not want and so I I showed. Hopefully there will be many years fighting there. Xavi understood it”.
