Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to Xhaka’s departure from the club this summer to the German Bundesliga.

This comes after the now former Gunners midfielder sent an emotional farewell to the club fans and staff on Thursday after the completion of his €25million transfer to Bayer Leverkusen.

Xhaka departed Emirate Stadium after seven years of playing for the North London club.

Arteta in a statement revealed Xhaka has given everything to Arsenal as he wished him the best in Germany.

“We are saying goodbye to a fantastic player and person loved by all of us. It has been an incredible journey together for him and he has given absolutely everything for this club,” Arteta told Arsenal’s website.

“We cannot thank Granit enough for his service and contribution to this club over the years. We wish Granit and his family all the best in the next step of their lives.”
