Arsenal have suffered a major transfer blow ahead of the January transfer window.

This comes after report disclosed that RB Salzburg midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai, will prefer a transfer move to German club RB Leipzig ahead of the Gunners.

This was made public via Sky Germany in a recent report.

Szoboszlai is one of the most wanted midfielders in Europe owing to his performance for the Austrian Club.

With this latest development, Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta will have to focus elsewhere for a new midfielder.

The Gunners remain in need of a creative midfielder at the center of their squad this season as they have been unable to create enough goal chances for their forwards.

According to the report, it disclosed that Salzburg’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, has been in Leipzig this week to negotiate the deal and a deal is expected to be officially announced before Christmas.

The report further revealed that RB Leipzig will pay €25million release clause within two weeks of it being activated and Salzburg will receive a 20 per cent sell-on fee if Szoboszlai leaves RB Leipzig.

Another option for Arteta’s side is to consider keeping German midfielder, Mesut Ozil at Emirate stadium and give a chance to play.

Anything outside this means they have to be ready to spend on a new midfielder in January.
