Arsenal set eye on former Leeds goalkeeper as Kepa’s replacement
Chelsea are said to be monitoring former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier as a potential replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Recall that Kepa signed a permanent transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal last summer after spending the 2024-25 season on loan at Bournemouth.
He, however, had to settle for a backup role behind the Gunners undisputed number one, David Raya.
A recent report by Sky Sports News, has claimed Kepa is facing an uncertain future in the north London club despite being in no rush to depart.
The former Chelsea goalie is open to entertaining a move if he gets the right offer that appeals from a professional and personal standpoint.
According to the update, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Meslier as a potential replacement should Kepa leave.
On the other hand, Meslier is on the look out for a new club after leaving Leeds following the expiry of his contract.
While Meslier recorded 70 clean sheets in 215 appearances for the Yorkshire club, his error during his time at Leeds, resulting in him being demoted to the club’s third-choice option behind Karl Darlow and Lucas Perri last season, may make Arsenal reconsider an offer for him.
