Arsenal reportedly eye Manchester United star as alternative from their top target

Arsenal are still in the transfer window for a creative midfielder and Leicester City’s James Maddison has been reported as their preferred candidate.

Maddison continued from where he left last season by putting in an impressive performance in Leicester City’s win over Manchester City in the community shield.

Arsenal have been in talks with Leicester City over signing Maddison for some time now but the deal is yet to be completed.

The Gunners are now willing to turn their attention towards Jesse Lingard if they can’t sign James Maddison.

However, it seems the deal will ultimately fail with Football London claiming that progress is hardly being made in the talks.

According to Football London, there are limited chances that Arsenal will complete the deal for James Maddison.

Lingard returned to his best during a six month loan spell with West Ham United last season and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him in his squad.

However, the arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund might tempt the England international to make a decision on his future at Old Trafford.
