Former Liverpool star Graeme Souness has queried Arsenalor splashing £65 million to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea this summer.

Souness is of the opinion that no club would have spent such an amount on the Havertz, who was not impressive at Chelsea and left them at the 12th spot on the EPL table last season.

The former Chelsea player penned a 5-year deal with the Gunners.

However, Souness expressed his surprise by Arsenal’s move for Havertz.

“I don’t think anyone would have spent £65m for Kai Havertz based on what we have seen from him over the last couple of years at Chelsea,” Souness told the Sky Bet Fan Hope Survey.

“Mikel Arteta must feel that he can improve Havertz because he was not a £65m player last year.

“Maybe I’m being tough on him because he was in a struggling Chelsea team but good players still turn up whether their team is struggling or not.”
