Arsenal executive vice-chair Tim Lewis in a recent statement has opened up on the advice the club’s former manager Arsene Wenger gave to their forward Bukayo Saka when he returned to the Emirate Stadium in 2022.

Wenger, who was in charge at Arsenal for 22 years between 1996 and 2018 returned to the north London club for the first time in over four years last December to watch their 3-1 win over West Ham United.

During his visit, Wenger met with Saka, Mikel Arteta, and the Arsenal squad.

Lewis in a statement with The Telegraph has now revealed what the former manager told Saka in the club’s changing room during their first-ever discussion.

“It was great to take Arsene [Wenger] down to the dressing room,” Lewis said.

“Bukayo did not know him, but he called him ‘boss’ immediately.

“He said, ‘Boss, how can I improve?’ – Arsene very dryly said, ‘I think you could use your right foot a bit more’.”
