Man Utd Receive Boost in Striker Search as Target Admits Old Trafford ‘Dream’

Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of a new striker, with one of their alternative targets to Viktor Gyokeres openly expressing a desire to join the club.
The unnamed forward, who has been closely monitored by United scouts, has reportedly admitted that playing at Old Trafford is a “dream” move—giving the Red Devils encouragement as they reshape their attacking options this summer.
United’s new director of football, Jason Wilcox, has already been active in the market. The club triggered Matheus Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause to secure his transfer from Wolves, and are now said to be progressing with an improved £65 million bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
However, manager Ruben Amorim remains keen to add further firepower. After missing out on Liam Delap—who joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town in a £30 million deal—United are prioritising the signing of a proven No. 9. With doubts over Rasmus Højlund’s long-term future, potentially involving a return to Serie A, reinforcements are seen as essential.
Transfer insider Ben Jacobs added further intrigue on Wednesday, suggesting United may benefit from Arsenal’s striker decisions. “It could be a scenario where whoever Arsenal go for opens the door for Manchester United to move in on the other target,” he explained.
With momentum building and their shortlist expanding, United look increasingly prepared to secure a striker who genuinely wants to wear the red shirt.
