Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta in a recent statement, has revealed how Arsenal’s players reacted after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of the Gunners captaincy band.

Arteta, in a statement, stressed that the Gunners squad “accepted” the decision to strip Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang off the captain’s armband.

Although the decision was made official by the club, Arteta revealed he had face-to-face discussions with Aubameyang first, while his teammates were also informed.

“They (the players) accept the decision,” Arteta said.

This is coming following Aubameyang decision to miss the Gunners Saturday’s 3-0 victory against Southampton after failing to return on time from an authorised trip abroad earlier in the week.

The latest reports disclosed that Arteta is already looking for a replacement and shortlisted four players who could take over the captaincy band from Aubameyang at Emirate stadium.

According to talkSPORT, the four names currently in the frame under consideration by Arteta to become Arsenal’s new captain are Alexandre Lacazette, Kieran Tierney, Aaron Ramsdale and Xhaka.
