Ex-Chelsea star Madueke names four Arsenal players he spoke with before signing

Noni Madueke’s transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal has remained on of the heated topic in the summer transfer window.

A few days ago, reports emerged that Arsenal led by manager Mikel Arteta were in contact to sign Madueke from Chelsea.

The deal has now been finalised as Madueke was officially unveiled as the Gunners’ latest signing on Friday.

Madueke is familiar with Arsenal stars Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Myles Lewis-Skelly from the England national team.

He also played alongside Jurrien Timber at PSV Eindhoven.

This means he knew at least five Arsenal players before agreeing to move to Emirate Stadium.

Speaking about his unexpected move to Arsenal, Madueke said, “I’ve spoken to Declan Rice, Myles, Bukayo, even Jurrien as well.

“And they all say amazing things about the club and the culture here, how warm it is and how much of a family it is.”

The former Chelsea player has been handed the short number 20 at the North London club.

Amid the criticism that has trailed Madueke’s shocking transfer to Arsenal, many have blamed Arteta for signing a player who struggled to impress at Chelsea.

Madueke would also face limited game time at Arsenal.
