Arsenal have finally sealed a deal for Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna after weeks of talking between both club.

The transfer was completed on Monday as Calafiori was unveiled as the Gunners’ newest player this summer.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, in a reaction hailed Calafiori’s versatility after the club splashed €50million on his transfer fee to sign him from Bologna.

Calafiori’s arrival at Emirates Stadium is a boost for the Gunners as he can play at left-back and centre-back, which will bolster their defence.

During a statement with the press, Arteta was asked where the 22-year-old would fit into the Gunners squad that finished in second spot on the Premier League table in the last two seasons behind Man City.

Responding, the Gunners manager said Calafiori will play both positions with the way the Gunners want to play and the things they want to evolve in their game, he is going to fit really into what they want.

“It increases the quality and the competition and is very good for the team,” Arteta added.

With the deal for a new defender done, Arsenal have been linked with moves for a new striker and they could seal a deal before the summer window deadline.
