Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has suggested the ongoing January transfer window will not be a busy one for the club.

In a post-match statement after their 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, Arteta insisted that he and club chiefs “love” the players they already have in the squad.

While fans have been clamouring for the North London club to sign a new striker to help their title ambitions, it appears they will not be signing any this January.

When asked whether his team could compete with Liverpool and Manchester City, Arteta replied: “We will try our best.

“We need to make sure our players feel trusted and have confidence.

“If they are doubting that is not helpful. We love the players we have.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal will not return to action until January 30 when they face Nottingham Forest in the league.
