Arsenal’s £35m Winger Deal Thrown Into Doubt as Agent Opens Door to Shock U-Turn

Arsenal’s £35m Winger Deal Arsenal’s plans to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis could face an unexpected setback after Leandro Trossard’s agent suggested the Belgian has not yet decided to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Trossard had been widely expected to complete a move to Turkish side Besiktas, with reports claiming the two clubs had agreed a deal worth around €18 million (£15.3 million). Personal terms were also believed to be close to being finalised, with the transfer expected to progress after the World Cup.

However, the situation now appears far less certain.

Speaking about his client’s future, Trossard’s agent, Dirk Hebel, confirmed that Besiktas had made a strong effort to secure the Arsenal winger’s signature but stressed that no final decision has been taken. He also indicated that remaining in north London is still a realistic possibility.

Those comments could have significant implications for Arsenal’s transfer plans. Tzolis has been identified as the leading candidate to replace Trossard should the Belgium international depart, with the Gunners reportedly preparing a deal worth around £35 million for the Club Brugge star.

Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his attacking options before the new season, but Arsenal are unlikely to commit to another left winger unless space is first created within the squad.

Should Trossard ultimately decide to stay, Arsenal may be forced to reconsider the timing of a move for Tzolis or explore alternative solutions elsewhere in the squad.
