Arsenal target flies to UK for medical
Arsenal are close to signing a new player this summer as recent reports revealed their target and Bologna defender, Riccardo Calafiori, is set to fly to the UK today ahead of his medicals.
Once the medical is done, Calafiori will be able to finally seal his transfer to the Gunners after they agreed a €50m (£42.1m) fee for him.
The Italian defender, who impress at Euro 2024, will then join the North London squad on their ongoing US pre-season tour.
Popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a tweet on Friday revealed Calafiori’s travel from Italy to London is being planned for today.
Romano added that Calafiori is expected to fly for first part of medical tests in London then time to join Arteta and his squad in the US.
Once the deal is done, it would make the Bologna star Arsenal’s third signing this summer.
Recall that the North London club signed Tommy Setford from Dutch side Ajax as their second summer signing.
David Raya is the first player the Gunners sealed a permanent move for from Brentford this summer.
This comes amid Raya’s impressive performance for the Gunners last season when they initially signed him on a loan transfer.
