Arsenal have reportedly been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, with fresh reports claiming the Brazilian has given the green light to a potential move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners have admired Guimaraes for several seasons and are now stepping up their efforts to bring him to north London. Arsenal are believed to have already seen an opening offer of around £60 million rejected by Newcastle, but they remain determined to strike a deal and are preparing an improved bid that could reach £80 million.

Newcastle’s failure to qualify for European competition has increased speculation over the futures of several key players. Alongside Guimaraes, the likes of Sandro Tonali, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall have all been linked with moves away from St James’ Park, while Anthony Gordon has already departed.

According to reports, Arsenal’s confidence has grown after receiving encouragement from Guimaraes’ camp, with the midfielder said to be open to joining Mikel Arteta’s side. The report also suggests that Arsenal have ruled out an alternative midfield target, allowing them to focus their resources on completing a deal for the Brazilian international.

Although Newcastle remain reluctant to lose one of their most influential players, Arsenal believe an offer in the region of £80 million could test the Magpies’ resolve.

Fresh from winning the Premier League but falling short in the Champions League final, Arsenal are determined to strengthen their squad this summer, with midfield reinforcement and a new left winger among their top priorities as they prepare for another title challenge.
