The summer transfer window may seem far away but football clubs are on red alert on players they could sign to their squad when the window is finally opened.

Premier League side, Arsenal have been handed a boost to sign Phillipe Coutinho from Barcelona in the forthcoming transfer window.

This comes as reports revealed that the Catalans are not happy with Coutinho’s performance especially after they spent heavily to sign him from Liverpool.

The reports revealed that Barcelona feels the former Liverpool star failed to live up to his £142m price tag.

Since joining them three years ago, he has been in and out of the team owing to knee injury this term.

According to Mundo Deportivo, it claims that cash-strapped Barcelona want to offload Coutinho before he reaches that landmark appearance, and they are willing to take a hit on the nine-figure sum they forked out for him back in 2018.

With this, the Catalans will be willing to sell him a  price Arsenal, who seriously need a midfielder, will be able to afford.

The Gunners will go for Coutinho if they are unable to sign their preferred players.

The reports also revealed that Liverpool are also interested in signing him back to Anfield.
