Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in a post-match statement claimed his side didn’t deserve to lose to Aston Villa.

The North London club were unable to reclaim the top spot in the late kick-off as they were beaten 1-0 at Villa Park.

Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports after the game, said: “Really good performance. I thought we were the better team and didn’t deserve to lose the game at all but this is football.”

Arteta while speaking about the controversial refereeing decisions initially refused to comment, but said he has an opinion: “I do, big opinion”.

Although Arsenal created goal chances, they failed to convert any of them, as the hosts recorded their 14th consecutive win at home.

“You have to put the ball in the net and that’s the only thing we missed today,” Arteta added.

“We generated some big, big chances, bringing the ball higher up. We still lost the game.”
