Arsenal have taken a significant step towards strengthening their attack after reportedly reaching an agreement with Besiktas over the sale of Leandro Trossard.

The Belgium international is expected to join the Turkish club in a deal worth around €20 million (£17.1m), bringing an end to his spell at the Emirates. While Trossard has been a valuable squad player since arriving from Brighton, Arsenal’s hierarchy are now looking to reshape the squad as they prepare for another Premier League title challenge.

Sporting director Andrea Berta and manager Mikel Arteta are determined to build a team capable of competing consistently at the highest level over the coming years. That process involves making difficult decisions on several first-team players, including Trossard.

The Gunners are already pursuing reinforcements across multiple positions. Arsenal have reportedly made a verbal £55 million offer for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, while an approach for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott has also been rejected.

However, the club’s priority in attack is understood to be the signing of a world-class left winger. Trossard’s departure would create both the squad space and financial flexibility needed to pursue a marquee addition, with Gabriel Martinelli’s long-term future also attracting speculation.

According to reports, Besiktas have now agreed a club-to-club deal with Arsenal, leaving only the remaining formalities before Trossard completes his move to Turkey.

With the Belgian’s exit seemingly close, Arsenal are expected to accelerate their search for an elite wide forward as Berta weighs up his preferred options to further strengthen Arteta’s title-winning squad ahead of the new season.
