What Tammy Abraham needs to do to become a top striker

Chelsea forward, Tammy Abraham has been impressive this season under manager Frank Lampard, who has given him more playing chances ahead of senior player, Olivier Giroud.

Getting regular playing chances in the Blues squad have also helped Abraham’s skills which has seen him scored seven goals and made two assists in all competitions this season, which is worthy of applause.

However, football pundit, Alan Shearer believes the 23-year-old forward can do better and become one of the top strikers in Europe by improving his movement and heading ability in the air in the box.

Shearer while speaking on BBC Sport’s Match of the Day said: “I like him but I also think he has to go to the next level and to do that, that stat (only scoring four goals from crosses) has to improve.”

He however added that Abraham needs to improve when balls come into the box.

Alan said “He needs to have that intelligent movement where number nines score on a regular basis,”

“These balls into the box from Reece James are dreamland. His body position is alright. We spoke about [Edinson] Cavani’s movement and how he is in control of the situation. He shouldn’t be flicking it, it should be a bullet header.”

Abraham will be hoping to return to action on Wednesday night when Chelsea take on Sevilla in the Uefa Champions League.
