Chelsea have agreed to sign Senegal international goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes, as per reports.

Edouard Mendy has been one of Chelsea’s primary targets during this summer transfer window, with Frank Lampard interested to sign another goalkeeper.

Frank Lampard lost confidence in Kepa Arrizabalaga at different points all through last season. Despite the fact that Chelsea have battled to discover a buyer for the goalkeeper, they have still been searching for more competition for his place.

That will arrive as Edouard Mendy, who will cost around £22m. Personal terms have already been agreed with Chelsea.

Ivisionsport uncovered recently that difficulties had emerged in the final phases of the deal, but hopefulness remained that it would go through.

Presently, those issues seem to have been settled, with the deal close to a final stages.

The Senegal international will sign a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, having been recommended to Chelsea by Petr Cech.

Rennes apparently got some information about taking Olivier Giroud or Fikayo Tomori consequently. However, it shows the two clubs have gone to an arrangement with no conditions.

The 28-year-old Mendy will become the most recent significant signing in a high-spending summer at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have also signed Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Thiago Silva, while they remain in the chase for West Ham’s Declan Rice.
