Chelsea will purportedly pay Rennes a little over £20m for goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Edouard Mendy is accepted to have bid farewell to his Rennes teammates on Friday, with his agent affirming on Thursday that a deal was near being completed.
There was some confusion about whether Chelsea had really agreed a transfer fee with Rennes, who were supposed to wait for £25m.
However, as indicated by report, Frank Lampard’s side will pay a little over £20m for the goalkeeper, who is anticipated to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga as the club’s new number one.
The 28-year-old joined Rennes from Reims the previous summer and made many appearances for the Red and Blacks during the 2019-20 season, keeping 13 clean sheets.
Chelsea will be hoping to make it consecutive wins at the start of the 2020-21 Premier League season when they welcome Liverpool on Sunday evening.
