Chelsea manager Graham Potter was full of good words for Conor Gallagher following his impressive form against Crystal Palace where he scored the winning goal for the Blues as a substitute.

Gallagher, who impressed while on loan at Crystal Palace last season is hoping to finally break into the Chelsea first team.

Speaking about Gallagher’s chances of getting game time, Potter said the player needs to still work hard.

‘I hope it’s the start of a very successful Chelsea career for Conor,’ said Potter of the England international midfielder.

‘He’s a young player who did very well at Crystal Palace last season and now it’s another step for him. Like with anything, you have to adapt and the team probably hasn’t performed as well as we could do so far this season in terms of being optimal for each player and playing at our top level.

‘I really like Conor. He’s a fantastic kid, first of all, who trains well every day and he’s desperate to do well, he’s desperate to play for Chelsea and he’s desperate to be successful here. So that’s a great starting point.

‘Now it’s about finding the right balance for him to be in the team and for the players on the pitch to play to their optimal level on a regular basis. Regarding Conor as a person though, he’s absolutely top.’
