Aubameyang, who joined the Blues from Spanish club Barcelona the last summer finally scored his first goal for Chelsea during their last weekend game vs Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Aubameyang started against the Eagles with a typically instinctive finish, as he allowed the ball to roll across his body before drilling low into the bottom corner on the turn.

‘Yes, a finish of that stature is a sign of a top striker and it’s certainly handy to have!’ Potter said of Aubameyang’s goal.

‘Goals can help you at any time of the game and being 1-0 down, we needed something. It was an equalising goal at an important time and it helped us on the way to a good three points.

‘Auba has been working hard. He’s had a difficult summer, for different reasons, and he’s had quite a traumatic experience I think.

‘I’ve said previously and I’ll say it again, the way he’s handled himself in my experience has been excellent and I’m really happy that he’s got a goal and contributed to a win for the team.’
