Lingard criticised for not celebrating his goal against West Ham

Former England international and pundit Michael Owen has criticised Man Utd player Jesse Lingard for not celebrating after scoring against West Ham.

Recall that the Red Devils played the Hammers in their last weekend EPL game as it ended in a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard.

Lingard’s goal came at the dime minute and was a saver for Man Utd; however, despite scoring the winning goal, he refused to celebrate.

Owen noted Lingard may not have wanted to score against West Ham which he played for last season.

The former England international stressed that he should have passed the ball to someone else if he never wanted to score against West Ham.

“The finish is absolutely sublime,” Owen told Premier League Productions.

He noted that the only thing that was poor about the whole scenario was that Lingard didn’t celebrate.

“I can’t believe players don’t celebrate when they score a goal against their old club, he was only there two minutes.

“If he doesn’t want to score if he’s not that happy, don’t pull the trigger, pass the ball, if that’s the case,” Owen said.

He added that it was the only thing that let Lingard down there because everything else is absolutely spectacular.
