As Liverpool continue their preparation for next season, their manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the plan he has for Virgil Van Dijk.

Liverpool were forced to play without their star man for majority of last season after he sustained an injury against Everton in October.

However, Van Dijk made his return to the pitch during Liverpool’s last match in pre-season against Herta Berlin last Thursday.

With Liverpool set to face Bologna in two 60-minute affairs, Jurgen Klopp revealed his plan for the match and the way it will benefit Van Dijk.

Speaking with Liverpool’s official Jurgen Klopp stated that he will field two teams as he want to make it really clear, that the team push nothing.

He noted that the coaching crew will wait a little bit, the players come and are now with Dr Andreas Schlumberger a real specialist who is in constant talks and always observing everything.

Klopp stated that he know exactly how they feel – how they really feel and not what they tell us because they obviously are desperate to play again.”

Klopp added that he felt pleased with how Van Dijk and Gomez reacted to their returns.

According to the German tactician, things are looking good in training but sometimes in moments Van Dijk and Joe Gomez are swapped a little bit so maybe the intensity doesn’t get too high, but in general it looks really good.

On the minutes van Dijk will be playing on Thursday, Klopp stated that he does not know but there will be some minutes for sure.
