Manchester United striker and Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo has been told he can’t win a trophy with the Red Devils this season, this is according to former Man CIty star Trevor Sinclair.

Sinclair made this known ahead of the Manchester derby between Man Utd and MAn City this weekend.

The former Man City ace revealed that although Ronaldo will score goals and break records, Sinclair, however, stressed that the Portugal striker will not win not win any trophy with the Red Devils on his second return.

Sinclair told talkSPORT Breakfast: “He [Ronaldo] will score goals, there is a lot of glory in there if he does turn it around for Manchester United, but the likelihood is he’ll score a lot of goals but not pick up any silverware.”

Althugh, Ronaldo has come to Man Utd rescue a number of times this season, Sinclair revealed it was not enough for them to win trophies.

“His foundations were at Manchester United and actually, when you think about it, this is him, kind of, not being selfish,” Sinclair added.

“Because, for me, if he was being selfish, there was only one decision to make and that was to go to Manchester City and trophies.

“But instead he’s gone, ‘you know what? I love this club, they have given me my start, I want to go back there and try to repay them and be as successful as I can there’.

“But, for me, nothing changes. He’s not going to win silverware.

“He certainly will keep on scoring and keep on breaking records, and he might win individual silverware, but I don’t think he will win any silverware with Manchester United.”
