Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is set to strengthen his defence ahead of next season and already has an eye on a player to sign to help with this.

The recent report revealed Manchester United defender Alvaro Fernandez has emerged as a transfer target for Burnley this summer transfer window.

A report via Sky Sports revealed Kompany is keen to sign a left-back for his club, with Fernandez said to be under consideration.

Kompany led Burnley to a Premier League promotion last season from the Championship tournament.

Their return will see them face EPL champions Manchester City next Friday in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The report added that Burnley are set to back Kompany in the transfer market as they prepare to stay in the Premier League.

So far, the Clarets have already signed nine players for over £60 million.

While Burnley already have Charlie Taylor in their left-back, they are keen to bolster their options in the position.
