David De Gea is close to sealing a deal with a new club this summer transfer window.

A report via The Athletic revealed De Gea is in talks to join Genoa before summer deadline.

Recall that the Spanish goalkeeper who exited Manchester United in the summer of 2023 has been without a club since then.

De Gea left the Red Devils after his contract expired and he failed to extend his deal with the club.

Amid claims that the 33-year-old could return to Old Trafford this summer, recent reports disclosed he is now set to sign for the Serie A side as a free agent.

Genoa were in the 11th spot in the Italian top flight last season after being promoted from Serie B in 2022/23.

There were reports that the Spanish goalie had attracted interest from clubs in Italy, the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Another report claimed that an unnamed Premier League club had expressed interest in his signature.

We may have to wait to see if De Gea and Genoa’s talks will work out as the goalkeeper intends to continue his career after a successful spell with the Red Devils.
