Atletico Madrid kick Man Utd out of the UCL

Man Utd are done with the Uefa Champions League for this season after they were kicked out of the tournament by Spanish side Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

The game, which was played at Old Trafford, ended in a 1-0 win for Madrid, thanks to Renan Lodi’s first-half header.

The goal was enough to seal the Spanish side’s spot in the quarter-finals.

Anthony Elanga seemed to have be fouled in the build-up to the goal, but Man United lacked the action break Atletico Madrid.

Reacting to their defeat to Madrid, the Red Devils coach Ralf Rangnick said his side played well in the first half but conceding the first goal to the visitor was their undoing.

Rangnick, in a post-match statement, told SkySport: “I think we played a good first half,” said Rangnick. “All those things we planned to do we did. The only thing we did not do was convert that energy into scoring the first goal ourselves. One thing we cannot do against Atletico is concede the first goal.”

As it seems Man Utd would be ending this season again without a trophy.
