Liverpool Football Club assistant manager Pep Lijnders has backed Trent Alexander-Arnold  to become the future captain of the club.

Alexander-Arnold made his debut for Liverpool at the age of 18 and he has not looked back ever since then, putting in impressive performance for the reds.

The England international played an important role in Liverpool’s Champions League win in 2019 and their Premier League victory in 2020.

Liverpool’s assistant manager Lijnders, who played an important role in Arnold’s development has now revealed that the youngster has grown into a leader.

Speaking with LiverpoolFC.com, Ljinders stated that he’s so proud of Arnold as he was this natural technical talent when he was just 15 years old.

Ljinders noted that Arnold had all the characteristics he loved: a mentality to win, passionate to improve but his emotions sometimes took control instead of him taking control over the emotions.

According to Ljinders, he still see the same fire in Arnold’s eye in each training, but he does not see a young guy anymore but he’s seeing a leader, someone who controls his emotions, a future captain.
