Xabi Alonso Pushes Chelsea to Sign Real Madrid Midfielder as Sixth Summer Addition

Chelsea are reportedly considering a major move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga after new head coach Xabi Alonso identified the France international as a key target to strengthen his squad.
The Blues are determined to bounce back from a disappointing 2025/26 campaign that ended with a 10th-place finish in the Premier League and no qualification for European competition. Following significant changes behind the scenes, Chelsea have already completed five signings this summer as Alonso begins rebuilding the squad.
Among the club’s new arrivals are Geovany Quenda, Denner, Dastan Satpaev, Emmanuel Emegha and Marco Palestra, but reports suggest Chelsea’s business is far from over.
Camavinga has now emerged as one of Alonso’s priority targets, with the Chelsea manager believed to value the midfielder’s versatility, technical ability and athleticism. The 23-year-old is capable of operating in several midfield roles and has also featured at left-back during his time at Real Madrid, making him an attractive option for Alonso’s tactical plans.
Chelsea have also faced uncertainty over the futures of several senior players after missing out on European football. Speculation has linked Enzo Fernandez with a move to Real Madrid, although the Spanish giants have reportedly denied any intention to pursue the Argentina international this summer. Chelsea, meanwhile, are said to value Fernandez at around £120 million.
If a deal for Camavinga becomes possible, Chelsea are expected to explore the opportunity as they continue reshaping their squad. However, any negotiations are likely to prove challenging given Real Madrid’s reluctance to part with one of their most talented young midfielders.
