Chelsea were in top form during their recent weekend game vs Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Blues picked all three points and trashed Burnley in a 4-0 scoreline.

There are beliefs that Chelsea could have scored more goals if their key defender Marcos Alonso had been available for the match.

The Blues coach Thomas Tuchel in the statement, has confirmed that the reason for Alonso’s recent absence for the team, including for that victory at Turf Moor, is down to the Spaniard suffering from Covid.

‘Marcos is still ill. He has quite a lot of Covid symptoms so he’s absolutely not able to do training or a game,’ Tuchel said.

With the look of things, it is uncertain Alonso will be available when Chelsea take on Norwich City on Thursday.

In another report, Chelsea are currently seated at the third spot on the EPL table ahead of Arsenal, who are at the fourth spot.

The Blues are behind Man City and Liverpool, seated at the first and second spot, respectively.

While Chelsea doesn’t stand a chance of winning the EPL title this season, they are sure to finish in the top four.
