Why it is a bad idea for Man Utd to sign this Chelsea striker

Since the signing of Ralf Rangnick as Man Utd new interim coach, the Red Devils have been linked with moves for Chelsea striker Timo Werner.

The reports revealed that Rangnick is a huge admirer of Werner and wants a reunion at Old Trafford.

However, former Chelsea star Glen Johnson in a recent statement, has urged the Red Devils against Werner.

According to Johnson, Werner would struggle at Old Trafford the same way he is struggling at Stamford Bridge.

He also stressed that Man Utd are already stockpiled in areas where the German striker could be needed and thus, a move to Old Trafford means his playing time will reduce.

“I don’t think that is a good move for either party [Man Utd and Timo Werner] to be honest,” Johnson told BetttingOdds.

“I don’t think it’s a good move for Manchester United and I don’t think it’s a good move for Timo Werner.

“United seem to want to sign any player available in that position which is just madness.

“For me, they signed Jadon Sancho for a position they didn’t need and they’ve got [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Mason] Greenwood and [Edinson] Cavani. They clearly can’t play all these players and keep them all happy.”

“For Timo Werner to thrive, then he has to be playing somewhere where he plays every week and at Manchester United, he’s not going to do that.”
