Why Havertz is struggling at Arsenal

Former Chelsea defender, Mario Melchiot has given reason Arsenal summer signing Kai Havertz is struggling at the North London club.

According to Melchiot, it is because of the suggestion that fans at the Emirates do not like Havertz.

Havertz struggled during his final season at Chelsea providing only nine goals in 47 appearances as a forward.

Many of the Gunners fans were not happy when manager Mikel Arteta signed him in the summer transfer window for £65 million.

Havertz has not been impressive for the Gunners as a central midfielder.

The Germany international played in nine matches without registering a goal contribution.

However, the 24-year-old German star scored his first goal for Arsenal during their 4-0 win against Bournemouth last weekend.

“I understand what Stevie (Nicol) is saying ‘the game is not done because it’s 2-0. But I think the bigger picture is very important,” Melchiot said (via HITC).

“The fans don’t like Havertz. He is struggling with that. So, the moment he picks up the ball, then he has a lot of pressure.”
