Why De Gea needs to leave Old Trafford this summer

Former Manchester United manager, Nicky Butt, has sent advice to the club’s goalkeeper David de Gea on his future at Old Trafford.

Butt in a statement said De Gea needs to leave the club if he doesn’t want to remain there as he described the goalie as a great servant to Man United for the past twelve years.

As of now, De Gea’s future at Man United remains unclear after his contract expired on June 30.

While the Spaniard is in talks with the Red Devils on a contract extension, there are speculations that his time may be over at Old Trafford especially as Man Utd are reportedly closing in on the deal to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Butt said, “David’s been amazing for Man United, he has been there for 12 years, I think he has won the Player of the Year four or five times during his stint.

“You have just gotta applaud David, he has had his critics, he has had his mistakes but he has been a great servant to Man United.

“It might be time for him to go if he is still not wanting to be here, I think it has happened a couple of years in a row now. And I think if you look at all the players that leave Cristiano [Ronaldo] and all the other players when they wanna go to Spain or wherever it is they want to go.”
