Why Chelsea performed poorly last season – James

Chelsea full-back and England international Reece James has opened up on why the club performed woefully last season.

The Blues were at their worst last season as they finished at the 12th spot on the league table, which led to Graham Potter’s sack before they brought in Frank Lampard as a temporary coach, who was recently replaced by permanent manager Mauricio Pochettino.

James in a recent statement revealed the reason for Chelsea’s poor form last campaign was because of the mentality of certain players who apparently had one foot out the door already.

“It is going to be a tough season. Last season was the toughest I have experienced,” James said at a press conference (as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle).

“We are moving in the right direction, it was very difficult last season because there was lots of change, some players did not want to be there because they were not playing,” he added.
